T-Birds trade Cotton to Everett

The Seattle Thunderbirds announced that they have sent back up goaltender Daniel Cotton to the Everett Silvertips in exchange for a 2014 sixth-round bantam draft pick. Seattle had been carrying three goalies and this move will help solve that problem as Justin Myles now is the one and only back up to starter Brandon Glover.

Cotton spent three seasons with Seattle but had yet to suit up in a game this year. Last year he backed up Calvin Pickard and appeared in 17 games and had a goals against average of 4.91 and a save percentage of .876. He had a chance to compete for the backup spot in training camp with Myles and 16-year-old Danny Mumaugh but was unable to separate himself from the pack.

Everett starter Austin Lotz suffered an injury last night in the game against Seattle and this move makes it seem that maybe he is looking at some missed time. Lotz had been playing well for Everett and was tied when he left the game last night. He is backed up by Cole Holowenko, who they picked up from Prince Albert just before the season began. Holowenko has struggled so far in the young season sporting a 5.71 goals against average.
