Monday Rewind: Making the right kind of history

The Seahawks’ 16-6 victory over the St. Louis Rams on Sunday was a historic moment in the long tradition of the National Football League.
(7-9) Seattle became the first team in NFL history to participate in the postseason with a losing record after winning their fifth NFC West title in the past seven seasons with the win over St. Louis. The Seahawks ensured themselves a home playoff game against the World Champion New Orleans Saints this Saturday afternoon at Qwest Field.
Steve Raible, play-by-play broadcaster for the Seahawks, recapped an up-and-down regular season where they were blown out by at least 15 points in each of their nine losses. Raible “can hardly wait” for Saturday’s wildcard playoff game against the Saints, and also discussed who he thinks will start at quarterback for the big game.
Rookie WR Golden Tate expressed his excitement getting to play in the postseason in his first season playing professional football. Tate also discussed the implications clinching a playoff berth has on a rebuilding organization such as the Seahawks.
Head coach Pete Carroll conducted his weekly Monday press conference in preparation to face the New Orleans Saints in the wildcard round of the playoffs. Carroll reiterated how he is unsure who will start at quarterback for the game, considering Matt Hasselbeck is still recovering from a hip strain.
WR Mike Williams announced his three-year contract extension to remain with the organization through 2013.
