Figgins activated, Cortes on rehab assignment

A few quick notes before the game begins. Chone Figgins has been activated and is available to play today. He is not in the starting lineup. I would not expect him to get a ton of playing time as the priority right now is to see the young players play and to that end, Adam Kennedy has played in just two of the Mariners’ last 11 games.

Other roster news…Dan Cortes has been sent out on what most likely will be a three-day rehab assignment with the Rainiers. He pitched a scoreless inning last night but did walk two in his one inning pitched.

Finally, Wily Mo Pena is expected to join the team today after returning home from Tampa Bay for the birth of his first child.
