Amidst reports an MRI found some damage in Felix Hernandez’ pitching elbow, there’s plenty of debate about whether the Mariners should go ahead with the reported mega-contract extension with their ace pitcher.
710 ESPN’s Dave Grosby and Bob Stelton say the Mariners have to tread lightly regardless of the long term potential for injury because Felix has become the fan’s favorite player, and not signing him could have devastating consequences on a franchise facing dwindling attendance and continued struggles on the field.
In the video below, Bob and Groz agree the M’s should go ahead and sign Felix to the monster deal, as long as they get some language included in the contract that protects them in case something happens to his arm later on.
