Washington coach Lorenzo Romar announced Thursday that the Husky basketball team has signed Shawn Kemp, Jr., the son of Sonics legend Shawn Kemp.
Kemp, Jr., a 6-foot-9, 265-pound forward, becomes the Huskies’ sixth incoming scholarship player in 2011.
“We’re happy to have Shawn Kemp, Jr. join our program,” Romar said. “He gives us additional size and athleticism up front.”
Kemp played high school basketball in Canton, Ga. before attending post graduate school at Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, Va.
He signed a financial aid agreement and will begin summer classes on Thursday.
