–Jerry Brewer of The Seattle Times gives both sides of the “should the Seahawks try to re-sign Matt Hasselbeck” debate. Brewer: “Both sides have a legitimate argument because few athletes have straddled the line between capable and creaky like Hasselbeck. There’s significant evidence that he still has game. There’s just as much evidence that the Seahawks should be leery of letting Hasselbeck, who turns 36 in September, get too much older on their dime.”
–Mike Sando of ESPN.com has four thoughts on the speculation of Hasselbeck ending up with the 49ers.
–Jim Moore writes on his website that he thinks Hasselbeck will end up in Arizona. The Go 2 Guy: “Do I have sources telling me this will happen? Of course not. I don’t have sources, I just have hunches. But this hunch is a strong one, and every once in awhile, my hunches come through. This is one such time.”
–Jason La Canfora of NFL Network reports that according to sources, the Titans “will be aggressive in their pursuit” of Hasselbeck. La Canfora reports that the Seahawks are interested in Kevin Kolb but may not be willing to give up a first-round pick. Sources tell La Canfora that the Seahawks “are also making a play” for wide receiver Sidney Rice.
–Danny O’Neil of The Seattle Times reports that the Seahawks plan to release veteran offensive lineman Stacy Andrew, who stared 12 games for Seattle last season and was scheduled to make more than $5 million this season.
