Update: Still no official word from the team but Jon Heyman of reports that Kevin Millwood has signed a minor league deal with the Mariners.

There will be no shortage of Mariners in the media next week. If all goes well with Jesus Montero’s physical we should have an official announcement of the Michael Pineda trade as early as Monday. Thursday the Mariners will hold their annual pre-spring training press conference and plenty of news and notes should come out of that. Then of course there is Fanfest Saturday and Sunday with a good number of Mariners scheduled to attend. The snow is thawing and spring training is right around the corner.

Today we heard news, I think, courtesy of the Gaston Gazette and Facebook, that Kevin Millwood has signed or will sign with the Mariners. I have been unable to get confirmation of this but there were reports of interest a month ago and Millwood does fit into the experienced category of pitcher, something Jack Zduriencik has said he would like to add. Millwood also has a short history with Eric Wedge, having played for him in 2005 in Cleveland. So there you go. I will have more on Millwood when and if the move is made official.

Programming note: The Hot Stove League Show will be broadcast Monday from 7-9 p.m. on 710 ESPN Seattle and can also be heard at Scheduled guests to include Jack Zduriencik, Carl Willis, Jim Caple and more.
