Huskies Offensive-Coordinator Doug Nussmeier joined Brock and Salk today and gave the guys and update on offseason workouts, and what he expects on the field this season.
Before talking to Coach Nussmeier, Salk had a few questions for Brock regarding the state of Husky football. When asked for a reasonable expectation for the dawgs this year Brock said, “in 12 games, I think reasonable is four wins, I think it could go either way, but I think that would be my over under.” And as for a reasonable expectation for Jake Locker, Brock had this to say, “to play every game this season, that’s first and foremost in my book, something that he’s not been able to do because of injury…to me reasonable, he’s got to play every game this season, if he can do that he’s going to grow.” Brock also commended the coaching staff for their in-state recruiting, which Brock describes as “full steam ahead,” and identified as a crucial aspect of rebuilding the program.
With that, the guys welcomed Coach Nussmeier to the show, Nussmeier weighed in on Jake Locker’s quaterbacking ability, as well as what he needs to improve on to become a more effective QB. When asked if Jake Locker is the right quarterback for his system Nussmeier said, “Jake Locker is the right quarterback for any type of system, I mean you talk about a phenomenal player, he’s very very athletic, smart, tough, great leadership qualities, I don’t know what more you could ask for in any offense from a quarterback.”
