Another chilly morning at Seahawks camp but the guys seem loose. Still no sign of Aaron Curry.

Training camp is a good chance to learn about the players and that means lots of individual feature stories again today. Brandon Mebane went on a diet this offseason and looks ready to be an anchor for the defensive line. Rob Sims and Sean Locklear finished last season on the Injured Reserve list. This year they are looking to redeem themselves. C.J. Wallace attracted attention with some big hits yesterday at camp. Nate Burleson gave his jersey to a fan on the first day of practice, he’ll have to stick to traditional autographs from now on.

Seahawk Addicts has a nice writeup about training camp so far, highlighting Rob Sims, Patrick Kerney, and Justin Forsett. Field Gulls doesn’t really like Brian Russell but agrees with the process that has made him the Seahawks’ starting safety.

Antonio Cromartie got fined $2500 for a tweet about the training camp food. Everyone is missing the story here. It’s not about Twitter and the rules around it. It’s about what he tweeted. Why donn’t the Chargers provide healthy, tasty food for their players in camp? Another reason to like and respect the way things are done in Seattle.

Eli Manning signed a 6 year, $97 million dollar contract extension. Wow. Now he is making more than big brother Peyton Manning. As my buddy Brian tweeted this morning: @b_donovan Imagine how much money they’d give Eli Manning if he were actually good. Also, does David Tyree get 10%?

Ichiro led the Mariners to a win last night, starting with a lead-off home run and ending the game with an amazing sliding catch. Adrian Beltre, 0-5 with 3 strikeouts in his first game back, made it back to the Mariners ahead of schedule, Erik Bedard is hoping to do the same. Russel Branyan came through with two RBIs yesterday pushing his season total to 58, a career high for him. Dave Cameron thinks that if Jack Hannahan can learn to play shortstop like he plays third base he would be one of the better bench players in major league baseball. Ok…

Ryan Divish looks at the international signings for the Mariners. Guillermo Pimentel was ranked as the 4th best international prospect overall.
Jarrod Washburn was named AL Pitcher of the Month…but got rocked last night. Shannon Drayer talked with Yuniesky Betancourt yesterday in her blog.

FC Barcelona is in town for a friendly against the Sounders. John McGrath highlights the Spanish team’s charity work.

Notes:
-Luke French will make his first start for the Mariners today

-Kyle Davies (3-7, 5.76), replacing Sidney Ponson in the rotation, hasn’t started since June 19th
