A day after Taylor Motter found himself on a mound for the second time in his major league career, the Mariners utility man will play a position a little more familiar to him.
Mariners eye Friday returns for Nelson Cruz, Ben Gamel
Motter will be at first base, where he has appeared 16 times over his three seasons in the MLB, filling in for the injured Ryon Healy in Tuesday’s 5:15 p.m. game against the Royals on 710 ESPN Seattle.
Daniel Vogelbach, who played first base in Monday’s 10-0 loss, will be the designated hitter for the M’s.
Veteran right-hander Felix Hernandez will pitch, looking to bounce back from a rough outing his last time out in San Francisco in which he allowed eight earned runs over four innings.
Kansas City will counter with lefty Erik Skoglund.
Coverage begins on 710 ESPN Seattle with the pregame show at 4.
