Brandon Morrow is taking a physical on Tuesday in Florida meaning that he has been traded to the Toronto Blue Jays (pending the results of the physical). He has been traded for reliever Brandon League and a prospect. We don’t have the identity of the prospect yet, but I’m working on it.
Edit – Fox Sports Jon Morosi has this info:
The second player going to Seattle in the Mariners-Blue Jays trade will be a minor leaguer, one source said this morning.
That would rule out one of the promising left-handed starters who debuted with the Blue Jays in 2009: Marc Rzepczynski, Brett Cecil or Brad Mills.
Catcher Brian Jeroloman was among the names discussed, the source said, but it’s not clear if he was ultimately included in the trade.
As for Morrow, he gets a fresh start in a new city with lower expectations.
These were my thoughts on Morrow in May – and many of them still stand. I think he was mishandled in Seattle from the start.
