Say it out loud….
Charlie Whitehurst: 2 years/10 million dollars, 3rd round pick in 2011, and trading down from pick 40 to pick 60!
I don’t understand, I simply can’t make any sense of this deal.
Darryl Tapp for Chris Clemons and a 4th rounder? Ok. A completely unknown and unproven quarterback for 10MM, a 3rd rounder and losing the value of pick 40 for pick 60? Something doesn’t add up.
Charlie Whitehurst’s agent, Pat Dye, job well done. He drove up the market value of a young quarterback that hasn’t attempted a regular season pass in the NFL and pitted the Cardinals and Seahawks against each other for his services. Well done Pat, and Charlie, you owe him more than 3% on this deal.
Can you imagine the conversation between agent and player. Pat calls Charlie and says, “What do you think bud? You have not thrown a pass, got beat out by Billy Volek, grew a fat beard and moustache, and I just got you a two year deal for 10 million.â€
Wow. I am really struggling to wrap my arms around the value of this deal and why the Seahawks felt the urgency to over pay for a prospect at a time when draft picks are so valuable.
