Seahawks general manager John Schneider joined Brock and Salk live from the VMAC Wednesday and gave his impressions of certain players during mini camp as well as the new competition at the quarterback position.
Schneider talked about wide receiver Mike Williams, who many say has emerged during mini-camp as a potential No. 1 receiver.
“I think this is a perfect opportunity with him. (He has an) excellent relationship with coach Carroll and his ability, especially in this offense, any west coast offense having a big X receiver to go up and grab the ball out of the air, play physical on a slant and the hitches and everything, I think is critical. And he has been doing a great job so far.”
Schneider also talked about the Seahawks first-round pick, Russell Okung, and his transition into the NFL.
“He is going to work hard, he is going to show up for work everyday, he is going to compete. He’s learning. There is no question about it there is going to be a little bit of a learning curve for him.”
Schneider brought in two new quarterbacks, J.P. Losman and Charlie Whitehurst, to add competition at the quarterback position and to motivate Matt Hasselbeck.
“My personal opinion is that I don’t think Matt has had the competition to the same level at two and three that he had this year…Maybe he is just feeling that right now and pushing himself a little bit harder, because he has had a really nice off-season in my mind.”
