Chalk Talk with Brock is a new weekly feature for the Brock and Salk blog in which Brock Huard will break down some aspect of football. Whether it be a few plays from the the Huskies or Seahawks game or a more general football concept, Brock will explain them in terms an average football fan can understand.
This week, Brock breaks down D’Andre Goodwin’s touchdown catch on a fourth-and-2 play in Saturday’s loss to Arizona State.
The Huskies faked a fly sweep with Jesse Callier to the right side of the field, Jake Locker rolled out to the left and hit Goodwin on a crossing pattern for a touchdown.
As Brock explains, the effectiveness of the play fake was dependant on the timing of the snap.
Here’s an endzone view of the play that was shot by a fan.
