Brock and Salk wrote in their blog on Wednesday about the four Seahawks at a career crossroads. In Blue 88, Brock named four Huskies in a similar position:
Desmond Trufant, CB, junior (pictured in AP photo): “No longer the young kid on the block, the freshman phenom. Desmond Trufant has got to be an All-Pac-10 performer.”
Devin Aguilar, WR, senior: “He’s watching the strength of this recruiting class (wide receivers) coming in, including Parade All-American Kasen Williams, pushing for his job. Coming into his senior year, I think it’s put up or shut up time for Devin Aguilar.”
Alameda Ta’amu, DT, senior: “A guy whose light bulb went on. I would contend and argue — having spoken with the coaches and the people close to the program — you want to know why they played defense the way they did down the stretch? Why they went 4-0? Why they were a different team against Nebraska in the Holiday Bowl than when they got run out of Husky Stadium in September? It was Alameda Ta’amu. And if he plays to that level, you’re looking at a bona fide, top-of-the-draft NFL pick.”
James Johnson, WR, junior: “James Johnson was your guy a year ago. He emerged as a freshman; he was a stud. He disappeared as a sophomore. Is he going to come back and contend in a very deep, competitive receiving (corp)?”
Brock also discussed the Rocky Seto saga at UCLA and what Packers coach Mike McCarthy did to incentivize his players to be more accountable and available. You can listen to the entire segment here.
