In Friday’s Blue 42, Brock Huard broke down what he saw at Huskies’ spring practice on Thursday from Nick Montana and Keith Price, who are competing for Washington’s starting quarterback job.
Huard: “Unfortunately for Nick Montana, and talking to the people there on the sidelines and catching up with a few folks after practice, it was definitely Nick Montana’s worst and roughest outing yet of the 11 spring practices. Probably unfair to judge just on one workout, but if I were to judge on one workout, it’s not even close. This is Keith Price’s team. He took all the No. 1 reps, he’s got a much stronger arm. He looks fantastic, to be honest with you.
“I went out there and obviously saw Keith a year ago against Oregon, we saw him in some of these Jake Locker videos and cut-ups taking a lot of the reps and a lot of the work. He looks confident, he’s getting the ball out of his hands, he cut through the wind with a very tight spiral yesterday. I walked away from just one practice very, very impressed with Keith Price. And if indeed there is some quarterback competition, Nick Montana has got a lot of catching up to do. Because I think right now, as it stands, if they had to play Saturday, without a shadow of a doubt, every single rep would go to Keith Price. He’s the starting quarterback right now.”
