D’oh! Sportswriter admits missing perfect game

Tacoma News Tribune reporter Ryan Divish has sat through plenty of Mariners stinkers over the years. So it’s understandable he wasn’t at Safeco Field Tuesday when Felix Hernandez tossed the first perfect game in M’s history. Unforgivable, but understandable.
“I forgot Felix was pitching that day,” Divish admits in an interview with Brock and Salk.
“I just got confused and then about the fourth inning when he’s perfect like that you have to stay, you don’t want to move,” says the longtime sports reporter.
“I mean I live in Tacoma. There’s no way I was making it up there in time even though I had to go to Husky practice later. It was just pure stupidity on my part, let’s not kid ourselves.”
There was plenty of kidding as Brock and Salk took their shots at the Montana native known best for his big truck.
“There’s only a few parking spots for the truck at Safeco and once they’re filled up you’ve got no chance,” says co-host Brock Huard.
“I’m going to have to start driving the Toyota,” Divish says.
At least he’ll get one of the special T-shirts being made for Felix’s next home start. If he can trouble himself to drive up from Tacoma instead of watching it from his office, again.
