No deadline deals for the Mariners

I have been told that the Mariners are indeed done and no late trades will be announced. From time to time you will see trades come in up to about an hour after the deadline but that will not be the case today for the Mariners.
Jack Zduriencik will join “Bob and Groz” at 1:40 to talk about the activity of the last 24 hours and then after that he will meet with the media and we should learn more about how close they came to any moves and his feelings on keeping Jason Vargas and Kevin Millwood.
As I have said all along, if Zduriencik could not get what he felt was appropriate value for Vargas, it was best they hold on to him. With Vargas and Millwood still in the rotation the Mariners avoid the disruption they had last year after trading Erik Bedard and Doug Fister, and hopefully this will help support the progress we have seen since the All-Star break.
One other note: Stephen Pryor, Carter Capps and Eric Thames will be in uniform for the Mariners tonight. Count on a “Beyond the Baselines” interview with Thames on the pregame show.
