Mariners lefty James Paxton had a breakout season in 2017, emerging as Seattle’s ace by going 12-5 with a 2.98 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 156 strikeouts over 136 innings pitched. So it makes sense he’s doing everything he can to repeat what worked for him a year ago.

“I continued to do the things that I was doing last offseason,” Paxton told 710 ESPN Seattle’s Bob, Groz and Tom on Thursday, the first day of Mariners spring training workouts for pitchers and catchers in Arizona. “I felt really good in my delivery (last year) so I did a lot of the same things. I was working on some different things I can do with my pitches, kinda working my two-seam fastball a little bit, trying to move that around a little bit.”
Paxton discussed the start of spring training, his focus on staying healthy and much more on Bob, Groz and Tom. You listen to a clip of the interview above or find the full segment in this podcast.
