SEATTLE MARINERS

No moves are no moves plus lineup

The trade deadline has come and gone and while there is always the possibility of something happening a few minutes after, it would appear the Mariners are standing pat for now. I will have the opportunity to talk to general manager Jack Zduriencik shortly.

Today’s lineup was posted about 20 minutes before the deadline, a good clue that nothing was happening.

Brad Miller, 6
Nick Franklin, 4
Kyle Seager, 5
Kendrys Morales, DH
Raul Ibanez, 7
Michael Morse, 3
Michael Saunders, 9
Dustin Ackley, 8
Humberto Quintero, 2
Hisashi Iwakuma, 1

Michael Morse at first and Justin Smoak is sitting. Going 0 for 4 with three strikeouts was not the best welcome-back performance for Morse, but acting manager Robby Thompson will give him time to settle in and get his timing. How much remains to be seen.

Hisashi Iwakuma taking the hill with the Mariners needing to stop a mini slide (they have lost four of their last six) should be a good thing as he is 6-1 after the team loses.

One last note for now, and I will have more on the deadline from Zduriencik later: there was a slight chance we could have seen a Felix Hernandez/Jake Peavy matchup tomorrow but that doesn’t look likely as it turns out he will not be arriving here until tomorrow.
