Some of the best players in the NFL were not highly rated in high school. Take Bobby Wagner, for example, who was a 2-star linebacker — and we see how he is today.

Similarly, Dominique Hampton could be a diamond in the rough for the Washington Huskies. He’s 6-feet-2, 180-pound cornerback out of Centennial in Peoria, AZ. I spoke with a couple West Coast scouts about him, who believe that the 3-star Hampton is going to surprise everyone because of his length and ability to cover.
Washington has been very strong as of late in the secondary, and that’s due to the coaching of defensive backs coach Jimmy Lake. Hampton was recruited by Lake, which sends a strong message right there that he will do well here at Washington. He’s a player that I believe that will under-promise, but over-deliver.
