The Mariners have optioned infielder Nick Franklin to Triple-A Tacoma and selected outfielder Cole Gillespie, moves that were expected before they were announced Thursday morning. The club also optioned right-hander Erasmo Ramirez to Single-A High Desert.

Gillespie, 29, was hitting a blistering .362 with 11 extra-base hits and 14 RBIs in 16 games with Tacoma. He’ll be in uniform for Friday’s series opener against the Rangers at Safeco Field.

The Mariners have an additional roster move to make.
