The Mariners optioned left-handed relief pitcher Lucas Luetge to Triple-A Tacoma on Saturday to make room on the roster for pitcher Hisashi Iwakuma, who was activated from the disabled list in time to start Saturday’s game at Houston.
Luetge, 27, has a 7.71 ERA in three games over two stints with the Mariners this season.
Iwakuma missed spring training and the first month of the MLB season with a strained tendon in a finger on his right hand. The 33-year-old Japan native was an All-Star in 2013 with a 14-6 record, 2.66 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 185 strikeouts.
