Thomas Rawls return to the Seahawks’ lineup was expected.
It was the fact that Eddie Lacy was inactive that was the surprise.
The running back the Seahawks signed to a one-year deal as a free agent was among the seven players the Seahawks declared inactive for Sunday’s home opener against San Francisco.

Seattle will have three running backs dressed for the game: C.J. Prosise, Chris Carson and Rawls. Tre Madden is playing fullback for the team.
Lacy practiced throughout the week for the Seahawks. He gained 3 yards on five carries in the season-opener at Green Bay and averaged 3.6 yards per carry in the preseason.
Of the $5 million Lacy signed for, $1 million was attached to being on the Seahawks’ game-day active roster, meaning the fact Lacy won’t dress will cost him $62,500 as pointed out by Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network.
Rawls is coming back from a high ankle sprain, which he suffered in the preseason opener. Prosise and Carson are also active though they also play on Seattle’s special teams.
The rest of Seattle’s inactive players are as follows: J.D. McKissic, Tedric Thompason, Terence Garvin, Jordan Roos, Oday Aboushi and Isaiah Battle.
