Considering the home-run pace Nelson Cruz set early on this season, his 20-game homer drought seemed like an eternity.
Well, the long regional nightmare is over.
Cruz deposited an offering from Houston Astros lefty ace Dallas Keuchel 409 feet away from home plate into the Mariners bullpen, giving them a 3-2 lead over the AL West leaders on Saturday night. Seattle went on to win 6-3.
The solo shot was his first homer since May 27 at Tampa Bay and 19th total this season, which ranks second in the American League behind only Angels first baseman Albert Pujols (20).
