The Seahawks have added to their stable of defensive backs, acquiring cornerback Justin Coleman from the New England Patriots for a 2018 seventh-round pick.
Seattle waived tight end Steve Donatell to make room on its 90-man roster.
Seattle lost cornerback DeAndre Elliott to injury in Thursday night’s preseason win over Oakland, and rumors have swirled this week that Jeremy Lane could be on his way out in another trade. The Seahawks are also reportedly sending cornerback Tramaine Brock to Minnesota for a seventh-round pick, according to ESPN.com’s Brady Henderson.
A former member of Seattle’s practice squad in 2016, the 24-year-old Coleman appeared in 20 games over the past two seasons with the Patriots, making 29 combined tackles with one fumble recovery and a safety. He played at Tennessee in college.
