Justin Britt extended a hand to his teammate on Friday night.
The fact that he reached out before the game and not after a tackle didn’t make it any less significant.
In fact, when Britt put his hand on the shoulder of Michael Bennett, who was seated for the national anthem, it showed that while Bennett was the only member of the team that was not standing, he was not alone.
Coach Pete Carroll was asked after the game about the significance of it being a white player in Britt who reached out to Bennett.
“I particularly like that that was the illustration,” Carroll said after the game. “It warmed my heart to hear that that’s what happened.”
