The Mariners will have Ben Gamel hit leadoff and Jean Segura follow at No. 2 for the second straight day in Monday’s 5:05 series opener against the Texas Rangers on 710 ESPN Seattle.

Gamel when 2 for 5 with a triple, two runs scored and an RBI in his return to the leadoff spot in Sunday’s 9-1 win over the Mets. He had previously hit out of the spot when Segura was on the disabled list in June. Segura, meanwhile, went 1 for 4 with a run on Sunday.

Mariners’ James Paxton named AL’s co-Player of the Week

Also in the Mariners lineup, Guillermo Heredia will play center field and hit seventh, Leonys Martin will play right field and hit eighth, and Carlos Ruiz will catch and be the No. 9 hitter.

Felix Hernandez will start on the mound for Seattle while the Rangers will go with lefty Cole Hamels.

It will be an interesting day in Texas, as the Rangers sent star pitcher Yu Darvish to the Dodgers in a blockbuster move at the 1 p.m. trade deadline. The Mariners did not make a trade on Monday.

Coverage begins on 710 ESPN Seattle with the pregame show at 4. Here is the full Mariners lineup.
