Guillermo Heredia will get a shot at hitting leadoff for the Mariners in Tuesday’s 7:10 series opener against the Twins on 710 ESPN Seattle with a lefty starter on the mound for Minnesota.
The right-handed-hitting Heredia, who has a .280 average with a .339 on-base percentage this season, takes over for Ben Gamel, who has occupied the top spot in the lineup since Jean Segura hit the disabled list with a high ankle sprain last week. Gamel, who swings from the left side, will hit seventh instead against Minnesota’s Hector Santiago (4-5, 4.76 ERA).
