Mariners’ James Paxton activated from DL, set to start Wednesday

James Paxton will indeed be making his return to the mound at Safeco Field on Wednesday night, as the Mariners have activated him from the 10-day disabled list ahead of their 7:10 game against the Colorado Rockies on 710 ESPN Seattle.
Pitcher Ryne Harper has been optioned to Triple-A Tacoma to make room for Paxton on the active roster.

Paxton, 28, is set to start Wednesday, which will be his first appearance since he hit the DL with a forearm strain after going 5 1/3 innings in his May 2 start against the Angels. He was among the best pitchers in the MLB over the first month, opening the season with a scoreless streak of 23 innings. In six games in 2017, the big lefty from British Columbia has a 3-0 record with a 1.43 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 45 strikeouts over 37 2/3 innings.
Harper, 28, didn’t appear in a game for Seattle after being called up on Sunday.
