Righty Sam Gaviglio is on the mound Monday for the Mariners, who are looking to build momentum from Sunday’s shutout win against the Red Sox and to continue their Memorial Day magic.
Seattle has the best Memorial Day record in the majors since the franchise’s inception in 1977 – going 25-12 all-time, including the last four straight.
In Gaviglio’s last start against the Nationals, he allowed five runs (only one was earned) over six innings.
Jean Segura had plenty of success against Colorado last season as a member of the Diamondbacks, hitting .421 in 76 at-bats. That was the second-best single-season average against Colorado in MLB history.
You can hear first pitch on 710 ESPN Seattle at 12:10 a.m.
