Full local NFL combine results: Big showing by UW’s Kevin King

The annual NFL combine wrapped up Monday in Indianapolis, and several players from colleges in Washington state had strong results.

The most noteworthy was Washington wide receiver/kick returner John Ross, who ran the 40-yard dash in a combine record 4.22 seconds. But he wasn’t the only Husky turning heads.

Cornerback Kevin King had the top three-cone drill (6.56 seconds) and 20-yard shuttle (3.89 seconds) among all players, and his vertical jump (39.5 inches) was fourth-best among defensive backs. Elijah Qualls tied for second among defensive linemen with 33 reps on the bench press, while JoJo Mathis, who is recovering from foot surgery after his 2016 season ended six games into the schedule, had 24 reps to tie for third among linebackers in the only event he participated in. Budda Baker was the second-best safety in the 20 (3.89) and fourth in the 40 (4.45), while Darrell Daniels had the fifth-best 40 time among tight ends (4.55).
