John Ross, the star wide receiver from Washington who opted to forego his senior season and enter the NFL Draft, will reportedly undergo surgery after the draft combine to repair an injured shoulder labrum, according to DraftAnalyst.com’s Tony Pauline.
The report indicates that Ross, who is expected to be among the fastest players at the combine, will participate in every drill except the bench press.
The combine is set for March 2-5 in Indianapolis, while the draft will be April 27-29 in Philadelphia.
Huard: Huskies WR John Ross smart to declare early for draft
Ross returned to the field for the Huskies in 2016 after missing the entire previous season while recovering from knee surgery. He proved he hadn’t missed a step by hauling in 81 catches for 1,150 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns, which brought him the Associated Press’ Pac-12 Player of the Year award.
Projected by most to be a first-round draft pick, Ross is believed to have suffered the injury in Washington’s win over Stanford on Sept. 30, according to the report. He didn’t miss any time after that game, and even had his four best receiving performances following that date.
Ross is one of four Husky players who opted to enter the draft early this year.
