Mariners release 2017 promotions and events schedule

The Mariners have released their promotions and special events schedule for 2017. The promotions include some of the old favorites and some new twists, as well as some great items commemorating celebrations for some of the biggest names in team history.
On Friday, April 14, the first 45,000 fans at the Mariners game against the Rangers will receive a replica of the Ken Griffey Jr. statue that will be dedicated early in the 2017 season. The plans for the public unveiling of the statue will be released at a later date.
Edgar Martinez Weekend will be Aug. 11-13 when the Mariners host the Angels. Friday will be Edgar Martinez Bobblehead Night. On Saturday, Edgar’s No. 11 will be retired in a pregame ceremony, and fans will receive a miniature version of the plaque that will be mounted in center field. Sunday will be replica jersey day. The first 45,000 fans at each of the games in the three-game series will receive the giveaways.
In addition to the Edgar bobblehead, Felix Hernandez, Jay Buhner, Nelson Cruz, Kyle Seager and Robinson Cano will all have bobblehead nights. On April 19, when the Marlins are in town, Ichiro will be honored with a double bobblehead featuring his likeness in both Mariners and Marlins uniforms paying tribute to his 262-hit season and his 3,000th MLB hit.
Beard hat night is back, and there will also be a Hisashi Iwakuma “Kuma Bear” hoodie night. Other hats and caps that will be given away include a Mariners cap, a Mariners cap with camo lining for Salute to Armed forces night, and a Stars and Stripes-themed cowboy hat on the Fourth of July.
The Kingdome is getting some love this year with a Kingdome snow globe and a miniature replica of the U.S.S. Mariner also among the scheduled giveaways.
As in years past, there will be Little League and youth baseball Days, Bark at the Park, stitch and pitch and five Fireworks Nights of various themes.
