Seahawks linebacker K.J. Wright is heading to the Pro Bowl for the first time in his career while tight end Jimmy Graham is going back for his fourth appearance.
They were added to the NFC’s roster on Tuesday as injury replacements for a pair of Washington players, Wright for Ryan Kerrigan and Graham for Jordan Reed. They’ll join cornerback Richard Sherman, defensive lineman Michael Bennett, linebacker Bobby Wagner and defensive end Cliff Avril as Seattle’s other Pro Bowl representatives for the Jan. 29 game in Orlando, Fla.
It’s a well-deserved honor for both and arguably an overdue one for Wright. He’s been overlooked in the past, as is often the case with some 4-3 outside linebackers who aren’t asked to rush the passer regularly and therefore don’t rack up big sack numbers like their 3-4 counterparts. He finished the regular season with career-highs in tackles with 126 tackles and sacks with four.
Graham caught 65 passes for 923 yards and six touchdowns and is a candidate for the NFL’s comeback player of the year award after his serious knee injury last season.
