As expected, the Seahawks activated linebacker Mike Morgan from injured reserve on Saturday ahead of their Sunday night game against the Carolina Panthers.
Seattle placed linebacker Jordan Tripp (thigh) on the IR to make room for Morgan on the 53-man roster.
Morgan, 28, underwent sports hernia surgery after the Seahawks played the New York Jets on Oct. 2. Morgan returned to practice two weeks ago, and the Seahawks used their one designation this season to bring back a player from IR on him. Each team can have one player return from the IR in a given season after the player has missed eight weeks.
Seahawks’ Michael Bennett listed as questionable but expected to return
Morgan had established himself as Seattle’s starting strongside linebacker before his injury, taking over for Bruce Irvin, who left for Oakland last offseason in free agency. It was Morgan’s first regular starting gig in six seasons with the Seahawks.
While Morgan was out, Seattle used Cassius Marsh, Kevin Pierre-Louis, Brock Coyle and Tripp in the position. Morgan is expected to resume as the starter against Carolina.
