The all-time coaching wins leader and Sonics legend Lenny Wilkens was a surprise guest in studio Friday. A wide variety of subjects were discussed, but Kevin couldn’t help but ask for Lenny’s opinions on if and when Seattle might see professional basketball once again.
Kevin wanted to know whether or not he was being over-dramatic saying that he felt like 41 years of history had been erased and that people didn’t care enough. Wilkens began by assuring KC he wasn’t being over-dramatic. He went onto explain that the return of the Sonics all starts with a new arena. “I believe that David Stern would help us get a team once he saw that we had a building,” he explained.
When asked if the current state of the economy would hinder the process of getting a new team, Wilkens told Kevin that the economic problems could be an opportunity for Seattle. “There’s a lot of people looking for work, lets tap into that.”
