Fister Talks About His First Major League Start

Aug 12, 2009, 3:57 PM | Updated: Apr 4, 2011, 7:55 pm

Mariners right hander Doug Fister came on the show today to talk about his first major league start last night against the Chicago White Sox. Fister went six innings, allowed one hit and no runs.

Fister talked about how Wakamatsu eased the young pitcher’s tensions by putting him in a game in a relief position this past weekend against Tampa Bay, saying, “It was a great plan by Wak, he did a terrific thing for me getting all those butterflies out the first day.”

He also talked about how he approached his start last night the same way he approached his starts in Tacoma, saying, “I came in with the same mindset(as I did in Tacoma). Every hitter is just a hitter.”

Fister makes his next start on Sunday, August 16th, against the visiting New York Yankees.
