Eric Crawford of the Louisville Courier-Journal joined us to talk about the wild and headline-grabbing basketball coaches in the state of Kentucky today.
Crawford talked about how juvenile both John Calipari of Kentucky and Rick Pitino of Louisville have been behaving lately, saying, “We’ve got Animal House with out college basketball coaches right now. It’s a strange time.”
He also talked about how Pitino fueled the story by throwing an angry press conference yesterday, saying, “He breathed life into a story nationally that was kind of in a lull at the very least until this trial comes. And he’s kind of given it new life, just because he got ticked off.”
Crawford also mentioned that even though it looks like Pitino will keep his job through all of this, there is one thing that still can’t happen if he wants to stick around, “With everything Pitino has done if he loses a really top kid or two that’s something he wont bounce back from. He might be able to do all this other stuff, but in a state as crazy about basketball as this, that may be what gets him before anything if he’s not careful.”
