Seattle Times colleges reporter Bud Withers joined us on the show today to talk about the suspension of Oregon Running Back LeGarrette Blount. Withers had a column on this very topic today entitled “Oregon acted too harshly in seasonlong suspension of LeGarrette Blount.”

Withers thinks that Oregon acted too quickly and that they should have taken more time to gather the facts and their thoughts, “Certainly taking a little more time would have served Oregon well. The more I think about it, I think a half-season suspension would have suited me better.”
Byron Hout, the Boise St. player who taunted LeGarrette Blount was not suspended. Withers also disagrees with this decision, “It just came down too quickly. If Boise St. had sat on the thing a few more hours, and just said hey were gonna look into this thing a little bit more and then come back, they might have come back with a more reasonable decision–which I think would have been to suspend Hout for one game. I think that would have been the perfect antidote.”
