Notes From Mike Sando

As he does every week, Mike Sando of ESPN.com, joined us to talk Seahawks and the NFC West.
The key question around the Seahawks headquarters right now is: who is the next GM? In addition, the question looms as to whether or not Mike Holmgren is the front-runner for the job.
I asked Mike Sando what would be involved in bringing in the Big Show.
“As an organization, you have to get past the fact of two things: One, you Mike’s the face of the organization no matter where he goes, because he’s a potential Hall of Fame coach. Two, he’s a potential Hall of Fame coach who is probably going to be a better coach than whoever your coach is – and that’s not a shot at Jim Mora.”
Dave Boling brought up an interesting point in his column today in the Tacoma News Tribune: How important is Matt Hasselbeck? I asked Mike what he thought of it.
“His approach to injuries this season has really been commendable. He’s really stepped up this year. His level of play might not be where it would be if he was healthy, but he’s not complaining about it – his body language is great. I think he’s everything you’d want in a leader right now.”
That pretty much sums it up. When it comes to appraising the rest of the team, there are some strengths and weaknesses I asked Mike to appraise at this point:
Best Seahawks Bargain: “David Hawthorne.” Plus some honorable mentions.
Most overpaid for the performance to date: “Deion Branch.” With a few other mentions as well.
Don’t miss Mike Sando at 4:10 every Tuesday and Thursday. If you can’t catch it, visit us here for some ‘Notes from Mike Sando’ after the show every week.
