RENTON – The presidential election was and continues to be a topic that Seahawks coach Pete Carroll discusses with his players. He said Friday that he showed them a video of some very personal post-election thoughts shared the night before by Ernie Johnson, the host of “Inside the NBA” on TNT.
In a 2-minute monologue, Johnson talked about why he cast a write-in vote, his hope that Donald Trump’s presidency won’t reflect his campaign messaging, his own Christian faith and the responsibility he feels as an individual to do his part to help unite a divided country. He closed by saying he’s praying for Trump, for the country and “for all those people right now who feel like they’re on the outside looking in, who are afraid at this point.”
The message resonated with Carroll. He retweeted the video of Johnson’s monologue on Friday, thanked him for sharing it and said he appreciated his perspective.
Thank you @TurnerSportsEJ. Appreciate your perspective… https://t.co/9ippWoxlzl

“I think he was just on it,” Carroll said when he met with the media and was asked about Johnson’s message. “I think he represented a lot of people on his thoughts and made sure that the team had a chance to see it for the guys that missed it. As always, we show them whatever we can come up with. I thought that was a good perspective for guys to see.”
