Nate Robinson of the New York Knicks joined the show today to talk about his Huskies, the Knicks and all things basketball. Here are the highlights:
On Husky Hoops: “I talk to Isaiah every day. I tell him to lead by example. We have the best fans, Husky fans will bear with them. As long as they make it to the tournament, everything will be straight.”
On Ways Huskies Can Improve: “When I was in college, we just played. We didn’t care who shot the ball, who got the credit. As long as we won the game, that’s all that mattered. We played together as a team. We just played hard. I think they just gotta go in with the mindset that they’re gonna to play harder than that team and kick their butts.”
On Reggie Moore: “He’s just a dynamic player. He can dribble, he can play the point, he can play the two, he can score. Everything about him – his game is just fantastic.”
On Charles Garcia: “What he has to do is reevaluate his game and figure out what’s the best thing for him. If it’s going back to school and coming out the next year, then so be it. If in his mind he has the confidence and he’s ready, then do that as well – you gotta follow your heart.”
On His Relationship with Mike D’Antoni: “Coach is great. I told him I just want to play basketball. He’s on board with it – I’m on board with it. Everything else is in the past.”
When Asked to “Give it to us Straight” on D’Antoni: “I’m a Knick – that’s the thing. I want to play basketball and this is where I’m at.”
On Playing with LeBron: “It would be fun.”
On the Sonics’ Departure: “It upsets me. It’s always fun to go back home and play in front of your home crowd and I just feel like the NBA robbed me of that.”
On The Dunk Contest 2010: “I already know now (which dunk I’m going to do). All my dunks are something different. I hope I make this dunk I have, it’s a special dunk, never been done – but we’ll see.”
Well, I’ll be rooting for him!
