Series- Eastern 9-5

Last Meeting- February 1, 2010 SU beat the Eagles 68-62 in Seattle.

Scouting Eastern:

This is one of the youngest and least experienced team in Division I basketball. They have won twice this year, but have yet to beat a Division I team. However, tonight marks a fresh start for these young Eagles. Big Sky freshman of the year Glen Dean returned from a stress fracture in his foot in their last outing against San Jose state and pumped in 23 points in his season debut. Eastern fought hard against a talented San Jose State team and only lost by 1. Dean transforms the entire makeup of this team so in many ways the first 8 games of their year can be tossed out.

The Ones to Watch:

Glen Dean- 5’10 SO G- 23 ppg

Dean was the leading scorer for the Eagles last year with over 12 points per games. He earned Big Sky Freshman of the year and is the leader of a talented sophomore trio.

Kevin Winford- 5’11 SO G- 14.5

Winford has serious range. He broke the school record with 9 threes against Idaho earlier this year only to break it a week later by tickling they twine 10 times from distance. He is shooting over 40% from three this year. He lit up Seattle U last year in Cheney off the bench.

Keys to the Game:

1- Slow down Dean- He is the game changer for Eastern. Lever will most likely get the assignment on him.
2- Keep feeding Broussard. He has been locked in averaging over 20 points a game in his last half dozen.
3- Finish strong- SU is looking for their first road win of the season and they need to play well down the stretch to do it.

Numbers to Know:

– SU 3-1 at Home and 0-6 on the road.

We shall see if SU can claim their first road win. Tune in 15 minutes before tip on 710 ESPN Seattle and the live blog will be cooking at seattleufan.com.
