Lineups: Ariel Miranda again looks for 5th win of September as Mariners open huge series vs A’s
Sep 29, 2016, 4:07 PM
The Mariners are hoping for a bounce-back outing by Ariel Miranda as they open a pivotal four-game set Thursday against the Oakland Athletics in their final series of the regular season.
Miranda had been a revelation in his first four starts of September, going 4-0 with a 2.16 ERA and 0.88 WHIP, but he lasted just four innings against Minnesota and took the loss in his last start.
In the lineup, the Mariners will employ their usual batting order against a right-hander, with Norichika Aoki leading off, Seth Smith hitting second, and Adam Lind hitting sixth against Oakland starter Kendall Graveman.
The Mariners’ push for the postseason continues with the 7:10 game on 710 ESPN Seattle. Coverage begins at 6 with the pregame show.
