The Mariners shipped off another of their lesser-used pitchers, trading righty Joe Wieland to Atlanta on Wednesday in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations.
Wieland, started one game this season, on Aug. 12 at Oakland, and took the loss after allowing six runs on nine hits over five innings. In 26 games at Triple-A, Wieland went 14-6 with a 5.43 ERA. He led the Pacific Coast League in wins and was ninth in strikeouts (118). Wieland was acquired from the Dodgers in exchange for infielder Erick Mejia in January.
The Mariners traded lefty Wade LeBlanc to the Pirates on Tuesday for a player to be named later or cash.
