The Mariners have recalled Nori Aoki from Triple-A Tacoma and the outfielder will be in uniform for Tuesday’s game against Texas.
Seattle optioned Aoki on Aug. 27 despite the 34-year-old being hot at the plate. It was his second stint in Tacoma this season. During the 31 games between Aoki’s minor-league assignments, he batted .316 with 11 runs, nine doubles, one triple, five RBIs and a .362 on-base percentage with the Mariners. He had been demoted because he had minor-league options and the Mariners needed relief pitching and right-handed hitters more than his left-handed outfield bat.
In eight games with the Rainiers during his most recent demotion, Aoki hit .226 with one home run and three RBIs. In 98 games with the Mariners this season, he has hit .265 with one home run and 16 RBIs.
