Update
The Seahawks announced the re-signing of versatile fullback Will Tukuafu and waived rookie Jonathan Amosa to make room on the 90-man roster.
Amosa, 25, was signed earlier this month and played at the University of Washington as well as Rainier Beach High School. He saw time at fullback in both of Seattle’s preseason games, rushing twice for three yards against Kansas City.
Original story
The Seahawks appear to have brought back Will Tukuafu to help at a shallow fullback position, as he posted a picture to his Instagram account Saturday afternoon indicating that he had signed a contract with Seattle.
Tukuafu, 32, is a five-year NFL veteran who appeared in 23 games as a fullback and defensive lineman over the past two years with the Seahawks. A former Oregon Duck, he transitioned to fullback after playing the line through college and in three seasons with the 49ers.
He can be quite the presence as a blocker out of the backfield thanks to his 6-foot-2, 280-pound frame.
Seattle entered training camp with no players listed at fullback as it didn’t re-sign Tukuafu or Derrick Coleman, who performed well in previous years but is embroiled in legal issues stemming from an alleged hit-and-run car accident in Bellevue last year.
Tight end Brandon Cottom was being used early in camp as the Seahawks’ No. 1 fullback, but he suffered a season-ending Achilles injury earlier this month.
