3 straight U.S. Open Cup titles is quite an achievement

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a day, or shall I say evening. The support of our fans was tremendous as always. I have never heard our stadium louder than after our second goal as Alonso put the icing on the cake to seal our victory.

I cannot say enough about our team. The spirit and will power has been great and different players step forward at different times. The team fights all the time and never seems to hang their heads and that is a good sign.

I do not know if it has fully sunk in but winning three in a row is unbelievable. Right now it seems brilliant but in 10-20 years I think everyone will realize what an achievement this is. You always need a little bit of luck to survive in knockout competitions and we had some of that. You need an organization that is willing to back its fans and bid to get home games, because they know the fans will show up. We do not have to apologize for playing at home. Home games are a result of fan support and the backing of our ownership group. On behalf of the staff and the team I want to thank our owners for their belief.

But our team is still hungry. We are not satisfied. We have game on Saturday, followed by two more league games. We also have one CCL game left and then on to the MLS playoffs. We need to continue our approach and play with confidence and the results will take care of themselves. We have confidence but we are not arrogant. We know that work is still ahead of us. We also know we can make this an extra special year. We move forward with our full effort to make this happen. Get your tickets now you do not want to miss this team. They play hard for you every time they touch the field.

Enjoy the rest of your week. I am enjoying today. Tomorrow we continue to work and prepare for Philadelphia.

Take care

Getting ready for Real Salt Lake

We just arrived in Salt Lake for our game against Real. The flight was delayed by an hour but everything beyond that went smoothly. The team is relaxed but ready. You can sense the anticipation.

Refereeing is part of the game

As a coach -- and especially as coach of the Sounders -- I know that refereeing is part of the game.

Sounders aren’t satisfied with another playoff berth

The Cascadia Cup competition continues this week with Portland. We are very close to a sellout, so buy those remaining tickets and let's make this a sellout.

After busy week, time for rival Portland

It was nice to sleep in our own beds this past week. After all our travel that was an excellent change for us. This week we are at home again before we travel to Portland on Friday.

Overcoming the rigors of long-distance travel

Well, last week was a long trip and then some. Traveling is great when you are on vacation and going to places you enjoy and can stay for a while with no time schedules.
