After big road win, Sounders have busy week

First and foremost I want to thanks the fans who were in Chicago. What a great turnout on a cold day far from home. The traveling fans that Seattle has are the best. Now we come home to play in front of the best fans in the league.

It was great to see Rosales and Johansson back on the field. Their experience and ability to keep possession helps our collective effort. With our second game in 14 days happening on Wednesday the depth helps out as well.

It was also nice to see Eddie Johnson get on the scoreboard. He was unlucky with his header that hit the post earlier. Fredy Montero hit a solid free kick and since the Chicago goalkeeper was unable to hold onto it we pounced on the rebound and scored our second goal. It is always special to win on the road because those points feel like bonus points. You expect the points at home. You really respect the points you get on the road.

This week will be busy with two games. The defending champions, the L.A. Galaxy, come into town and they are a measuring stick for us. I know our team is looking forward to this game. On the weekend we get the Philadelphia Union. We need to use our depth over these two games and maintain our quality of play. We are looking forward to this.

See you at CenturyLink. You guys are the best.

Take care
Sigi

Getting ready for Real Salt Lake

We just arrived in Salt Lake for our game against Real. The flight was delayed by an hour but everything beyond that went smoothly. The team is relaxed but ready. You can sense the anticipation.

Refereeing is part of the game

As a coach -- and especially as coach of the Sounders -- I know that refereeing is part of the game.

After busy week, time for rival Portland

It was nice to sleep in our own beds this past week. After all our travel that was an excellent change for us. This week we are at home again before we travel to Portland on Friday.

Well, last week was a long trip and then some. Traveling is great when you are on vacation and going to places you enjoy and can stay for a while with no time schedules.
